Rooseland, New Jersey, September 30th / PRNewswire / -- According to the ADP National Employment Report® compiled in collaboration with the Stanford Digital Economy Lab ( Stanford Lab ) based on ADP research, the private sector in the United States added 90,000 jobs in September.
According to ADP Salary Insights ( ADP Pay Insights ), the basic salary of employees in the private sector has increased by 3.2% year-on-year, and total salary has increased by 4.7% year-on-year.
- The basic salary of retained employees increased by 3.0% year-on-year; the basic salary of those who changed jobs increased by 4.8%.
- The total salary of employees who stayed on increased by 4.4% year-on-year; the total salary of employees who changed jobs increased by 7.3%.
ADP The National Employment Report is an independent labor market indicator, based on anonymous weekly salary data of over 26 million employees in the private sector in the United States. ADP Salary Insights uses salary transaction data to compare wage increases over a 12-month period for individual employees, generating more than 14.7 million observations of year-over-year salary changes each month.
ADP indicates that these two reports, combined with their detailed data, can provide a representative and high-frequency picture of the private sector labor market.
ADP Chief Economist Nela Richardson Dr. stated: "This is a strong report. After three months of slowdown, job creation has rebounded, and salary growth remains solid."

Employment Report
In September, private employers created an additional 90,000 jobs.
Recruitment speeds have accelerated for the first time since May, driven mainly by the education and healthcare sectors, as well as the leisure and hospitality industries. Financial activities, as well as professional and business services, have performed weakly.

Salary Insights
ADP Salary Insights provides basic salary growth and total salary growth data categorized by employee turnover, demographics, industry, employer size, salary percentile, and the 56 metropolitan areas of the United States. The report now also offers a distribution of salary growth and an interactive data platform.
There was little change in the increase of basic salary in September.
Salaries of remaining employees increased by 3.0% year-on-year, while those of employees who changed jobs increased by 4.8%.

The total number of new jobs created in August was revised from 38,000 to 36,000.
Starting from this month's release, the national employment report will include data from the first quarter employment and wage survey ( QCEW ) published by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics on August 28, 2026.
