IT News from October 5th: Marvel Studios announced today that "Avengers: Endgame" has once again reclaimed the title of highest-grossing film in global box office history.
This also means that the 38 theatrical movies produced by Marvel Studios have grossed over $35 billion globally, which is approximately 234.863 billion yuan, making the Marvel Cinematic Universe the most successful film franchise in film history.

Data released by Disney on October 4th local time shows that after the re-release of "Avengers: Endgame," the global cumulative box office reached $2.9255 billion, which is approximately 19.631 billion yuan, surpassing "Avatar's" $2.9237 billion, or about 19.619 billion yuan, making it once again the movie with the highest global box office. The two films currently differ by only about $1.8 million.
"Avengers: Endgame" was first released in 2019, and in July of that year, it accumulated box office earnings of over $2.79 billion, surpassing "Avatar" for the first time to become the global box office champion. However, "Avatar" regained the top spot after its re-release in 2021.
In addition to these two movies, the remaining 8 works in the top ten are "Spider-Man: No Way Home" (2026), "Avatar: The Way of Water" (2022), "Nezha: The Demon Child Causes Havoc in the Sea" (2025), "Titanic" (1997), "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" (2015), "Avengers: Infinity War" (2018), "Spider-Man: Hero Without Return" (2021), and "Zootopia 2" (2025). Then, in 11th place is "Odyssey," which is currently in theaters and has a chance of making it into Top10.

Data shows that "Avengers: Endgame (Enhanced Edition)" grossed approximately $86 million worldwide on its first weekend of re-release, with about $26 million in North America and around $60 million overseas.
Data previously released by Disney showed that by the end of the first weekend of its re-release, "Avengers: Endgame" had accumulated a global box office of $2.885 billion, which was still about $39 million behind "Avatar" at that time.
By the end of the second weekend, "Endgame"'s box office momentum seemed to wane, but it still managed to gross approximately $18.8 million worldwide, with about $4.4 million in North America and $14.4 million overseas. Adding this to the previous box office earnings, the film's total global gross rose to $2.9255 billion, surpassing "Avatar" in cumulative box office sales.
Although most viewers have already watched "Endgame," this re-release is not simply a repetition of the previous film. In addition to the original content from 2019, Marvel has added about 4 minutes of new footage, including four segments related to "Avengers: Infinity War" which was released in December of this year, to set the stage for the next "Avengers" movie.
Disney data shows that currently, 7 out of the top 10 highest-grossing films in global film history are Disney productions. With "Avengers: Endgame" reclaiming the number one spot, two films that had previously alternated at the top for a long time are now in direct competition once again.
