News from the IT community on October 9th: Counterpoint Research released its latest forecast yesterday, stating that shipments of OLED display panels for laptops are expected to grow by 50% in 2026 and 24% in 2027, taking a leading role in the high-end laptop display market.

Meanwhile, the shipments of laptop panels from Mini LED are expected to decline by 38% this year and further shrink by 60% in 2027. High-end laptop screens that include OLED and Mini LED are projected to see a 11% increase in shipments this year, while overall laptop panel shipments are expected to decline by 3%.

As the advantages of OLED in terms of thin and lightweight design, image quality, and cost competitiveness become increasingly evident, laptop manufacturers are increasingly inclined to adopt OLED technology. The compound annual growth rates (CAGR) for shipments and revenue between 2024 and 2030 are expected to reach 26% and 35%, respectively.

Institutions believe that Tandem multi-layer technology, lithography without FMM solutions, phosphorescent blue light emitting materials, and the generation upgrade of production lines are expected to enhance OLED attractiveness and improve production economic efficiency.
