The founder of Blueprints AI, Al Drams, stated that the company can use AI to generate construction blueprints that meet specifications and are ready for approval within minutes, based on two-dimensional sketches or PDF. The company will showcase the second-generation software at TechCrunch Disrupt and claimed that it will not replace certified architects.

Nearly twenty years ago, when a young college student was writing his graduation thesis, he envisioned a software that could generate design documents for school buildings. Al Drams At that time, he was studying architecture – following in the footsteps of his parents and grandfather – but what truly attracted him was technology.

There was only one problem: the technology he envisioned did not yet exist at that time.

“Then ChatGPT appeared,” Drams recalled. He was referring to the generative AI chatbot launched by OpenAI in November 2022, which utilized large language models ( LLM ).

His ideas from those days suddenly became more feasible. Within six months, he introduced the concept of Blueprints AI. This is a startup company that uses AI to generate construction blueprints that meet specifications and can be used for approval in just a few minutes, from two-dimensional sketches or PDF.

Blueprints AI was officially established in 2025 by Drams and co-founder Coco Cao in Santa Monica. It was selected for the Startup Battlefield 200 list in 2026. This is a group of promising early-stage startups that will be showcased at the TechCrunch Disrupt conference to be held in San Francisco from October 13th to 15th this week.

In the 20 years before the birth of Blueprints AI, Drams obtained a bachelor's and master's degree in architecture from the University of Tehran, and then completed a two-year doctoral program in digital design at the European Graduate School in Switzerland. He later moved to the United States and in 2018 founded an architectural firm named Drams Architects. Subsequently, he obtained a general contractor's license and added architectural services to his business in 2021.

Drams could have settled with that, but he didn't.

“I was thinking at the time, well maybe I could create some new projects in that field that could change people’s lives, but the impact wouldn’t be very significant,” he said. “What excites me about technology is the impact it has, the time and energy saved when people do the same things over and over again.”

Blueprints AI will release a second-generation software with more powerful functions on Disrupt. Drams and Cao indicate that this will have a significant impact, as it takes over the repetitive drawing tasks that account for most of architects' working time.

“It will create a better space for people, because now architects have the time to design,” said Drams. He mentioned that architects spend about 80% of their time on drawing and only 20% on actual design. “I want to reverse that ratio to 20 to 80.”

Drams and Cao met a few years ago at a AI conference and joined forces to build this company, leveraging their respective skills. Cao, a data scientist from Hong Kong, serves as the Chief Business Officer, responsible for sales and market expansion strategies.

The model was trained using a set of approved drawings from a company named Drams that has been engaged in design and construction for eight years, and this company is still in operation to this day.

The company's first-generation software can generate construction documentation, with monthly fees ranging from $3,200 to $8,500, depending on the package chosen. Corporate clients can also receive customized quotes.

The second-generation software of this startup will bring significant improvements. Customers can start from a project description or sketch to generate blueprints for all aspects of a building at once, including architecture, structure, mechanics, electrical systems, plumbing, and interior design. The second version allows users to design and modify projects, representing an upgrade from the first version. Importantly, any change in design will update the entire project and will be checked in accordance with local building regulations.

Early customers are already using the second version, and Drams indicates that it will be made available to the public this week. The company is currently developing the third version of the software, which will include features for structural analysis and distribution box design.

The co-founders stated that this technology will not replace certified architects. Certified professionals will still review the documents and stamp them before submitting them for approval. They said that the judgment will still be made by humans.

The new software from Blueprints AI targets two types of customers: one group consists of professional construction, engineering, and design firms, while the other includes developers and real estate owners. The company offers the software on a subscription basis and may also provide an option for a one-time fixed fee for customers who wish to use it for a single project only.

If you want to learn more about Blueprints, take a look at hundreds of other startups, and listen to the sharing of keynote speakers such as RJ Scaringe from Rivian and Amjad Masad from Replit, you are welcome to attend the Disrupt conference; the conference will open in downtown San Francisco on Tuesday.
