IBM Collaborates with Siemens to Advance Nanostacked Architecture, Accelerating the Mass Production Process of 3D Transistors
IBM and Siemens announce new research collaboration to advance the nanoscale stacked transistor architecture released by IBM earlier this year. The two parties will combine the semiconductor device innovation capabilities of IBM with Siemens' expertise in EDA, process simulation, lithography optimization, and advanced manufacturing software to develop advanced virtual models. These models will be used for performance modeling, design optimization, and to solve manufacturing challenges before chip production begins. IBM indicates that the nanoscale stacked architecture allows transistors to be vertically stacked and aligned in a staggered manner, enabling more transistors to be packed into the same area; the company previously stated that it is expected to take about five years before the first products based on this technology can be put into production by partners.

The report indicates that high inflation, rising bond yields, and changes in Federal Reserve policy are driving up mortgage rates and have already caused a noticeable cooling of the housing market.
