News from the IT community on October 16th: According to reports from foreign media kotaku, the fifth season of "Battlefield 6," titled "Siege of Vegas," was launched this week. Players immediately noticed that a batch of new character skins in this season's pass seemed to have signs of AI manipulation.
IT has learned that one of the characters had a large number of extra magazines attached to their tactical vest, another character was equipped with 5 pistols at the same time, and yet another character's arm safety armband misread the English word “Security” (safety) as “Secuty”. Additionally, there was a “fusion” effect commonly seen in AI generated images on the textures. What displeases players even more is that these controversial character appearances are not free content, but are included in the season pass. Some players have posted criticisms, stating that forcing players to pay for what appears to be AI generated content is a disrespect towards consumers.

Although as of now, the development team has not made a clear response regarding whether these skins were created using generative AI, in fact, back in December last year, players noticed that the stickers in the "Cold Wind" item pack of this game appeared to be generated using AI. The corresponding sticker patterns depicted a M4A1 assault rifle with "twin barrels".
At the same time, EA has always been particularly proactive in adopting an attitude of "using AI to transform the game development industry." Andrew Wilson, the company's CEO, stated to investors at the financial report meeting in May 2024: "We view artificial intelligence as a powerful accelerator for creativity, innovation, and player engagement." The company encourages employees across all departments—from art design and quality control to marketing and customer service—to actively experiment with using AI tools in their daily work processes.
