Chicago, October 23 (Reuters) / PRNewswire / -- Cboe Global Markets, Inc. ( Cboe : CBOE ), a leading global market operator and pioneer in the field of stock and index derivatives, announced on Thursday that Cboe Clear U.S., LLC ( CCUS ) has obtained temporary registration from the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission ( SEC ) to operate as a regulated clearinghouse ( Covered Clearing Agency ).

This registration will extend the clearing capabilities of CCUS beyond its current authority with the derivatives clearing organization DCO which is registered with the US Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC). In addition to futures and swap products, it will now be able to clear securities products as well. Cboe stated that, combined with recent enhancements to its regulatory framework and product range, this milestone enables CCUS to support innovation and emerging opportunities in a wider range of assets and markets.

CCUS will first utilize its SEC registration to clear Cboe binary securities options linked to key performance indicators ( KPI ) of specific enterprises. The related products are planned to be listed on Cboe Options Exchange in the fourth quarter of 2026 and will also be available on Robinhood. CCUS has recently also received approval from CFTC to widely clear margin futures and will continue to clear digital asset derivatives with its DCO qualifications.

CCUS leader Dale Michaels stated: "Clearing plays a key role in facilitating the introduction of innovation to the market. These enhanced capabilities make Cboe Clear U.S. a promising channel for supporting new products and meeting the ever-changing needs of customers, while maintaining the strict risk management standards on which our business foundation relies."

These measures complement Cboe's long-term partnership with The Options Clearing Corporation ( OCC )®, and also reflect Cboe's commitment to continue supporting the existing clearing infrastructure for traditional stock options.

This progress is built on the growth of Cboe's mature European clearing business. Cboe Clear Europe has become a leading pan-European central counterparty for stocks in Europe and is also expanding into new services such as securities financing transaction clearing. Cboe indicates that these advancements collectively demonstrate the company's ability to extend its clearing capabilities to different markets and asset classes.

To support its future growth, CCUS has strengthened its infrastructure construction over the past year, including choosing to become Subpart C DCO in June. Through this measure, CCUS has voluntarily adopted the enhanced standards applicable to the system's critical DCO by CFTC, which cover financial resources, risk management, and operational resilience, and are in line with the standards applied by leading global clearing institutions.
