Philadelphia, October 23rd / PRNewswire / -- Aberdeen Multi - Market Income Fund (New York Stock Exchange ticker: MMT) The board of directors has approved a 1-for-4 reverse stock split for the common shares that have been issued and are in circulation of this fund, effective prior to the opening on November 9, 2026.
The board of directors approved this reverse stock split in order to increase the market price per share of the fund. The board believes that a higher stock price may help to reduce certain transactions and administrative frictions associated with low-priced securities, improve the fund's suitability on certain investment platforms and intermediary projects, and make the fund's stock price more in line with industry trading practices.
The company stated that merely due to the reverse stock split, the total value of shareholders' investments is not expected to change, however, the market value of the fund shares will still fluctuate with market conditions.
According to the terms of the transaction, every 4 ordinary shares will be consolidated into 1 ordinary share. No fractional shares will be issued; the fractional equity will be aggregated and sold, and the net proceeds will be distributed to the affected shareholders. This transaction will apply equally to all shareholders and will not affect the proportional ownership of any shareholder, except for minor adjustments resulting from the handling of fractional shares.
After the transaction is completed, the fund's common shares will continue to be traded on the New York Stock Exchange under the trading code MMT. The fund will be assigned a new trading code of CUSIP.
This reverse stock split will not change the fund's management and distribution policy. The fund will continue to make monthly distributions, with an annualized distribution rate equivalent to 11.00% of the average daily net asset value at the end of the previous month, and this rate will remain unchanged until the announcement date. The percentage of net asset value used to determine distributions will also remain unchanged after the reverse stock split. However, due to the decrease in the number of outstanding shares after the reverse stock split, the distribution per share is expected to increase proportionally, while the overall distribution rate will remain the same.
Shareholders who hold shares through brokerage accounts will usually have their positions automatically adjusted. Shareholders who hold physical stock certificates or have any questions regarding their accounts should contact the fund transfer agents Computershare Trust Company and N.A. Important Information
The shares of closed-end funds are listed and traded on national stock exchanges and are bought and sold in the secondary market. The market price of fund shares is determined by supply and demand and may be higher than the net asset value of the fund (referred to as a premium) or lower than the net asset value (referred to as a discount). The investment returns and principal value of the fund can fluctuate, and investors may receive an amount higher or lower than their original investment when selling their shares. It cannot be guaranteed that the fund will achieve its investment objectives, and past performance does not represent future results.
The trading price of closed-end fund shares can be influenced by a variety of factors, including market conditions, investor sentiment, and other external factors, and is not directly controlled by the fund, its board of directors, or investment advisors. As a result, shares may be traded at prices higher or lower than their net asset value at any time. A premium above the net asset value may not be sustained, and a discount may also widen or narrow over time. Investors should consider these risks when buying and selling closed-end fund shares.
Shareholders who trade fund shares at a price higher than their net asset value and participate in the fund's dividend reinvestment plan should be aware that reinvestment may occur at a price above the net asset value, which could have an adverse effect on investment results.
