Apple's much-anticipated foldable screen phone iPhone Duo has had a rough start since its launch. This model was unveiled during this year's Surprise and Shine events, and Apple promised at the time that they had finally mastered this traditionally challenging form factor.
However, Bloomberg reported that early iPhone Duo users complained that the screens developed cracks "after just a few hours or days of use." Some users said they heard a loud cracking sound before cracks appeared on the screen, while others reported display abnormalities.
404 Media also reported that early buyers are encountering a large fold line in the middle of the foldable screen, which is priced at $2,000.
TechCrunch has contacted Apple for a comment, and if they respond, this report will be updated. Apple stated that they "are aware of an issue affecting the inner screens of a small number of iPhone Duo devices."
In Silicon Valley, creating a truly usable foldable screen phone has long been a goal, but many of the models released to date have encountered similar issues. Apple once claimed to have solved this problem, but these early complaints seem to indicate that it may not have actually addressed the issue yet.
