Key Points
- Robinhood plans to provide access to RLUSD through its retail application.
- The cooperation with Ripple has been extended to institutional settlement and corporate fund management services.
- Bitstamp receives broader financing and trading infrastructure support.
Robinhood plans to introduce the stablecoin RLUSD of Ripple into its retail trading applications later in 2026, which could open another distribution channel for this digital dollar on brokerage platforms. Robinhood revealed that as of August, it has 28.6 million funded customers.
This news was announced during the Ripple Swell conference held in New York on October 27th. The cooperation between the two parties will also extend to institutional settlement, corporate fund management services, and cryptocurrency financing.
According to the official announcement of Ripple, RLUSD is currently live on Robinhood Chain, Bitstamp, by, and Robinhood. However, both parties have not yet confirmed when this stablecoin will be available in the main application of Robinhood, nor have they specified which customers will be eligible to use it.
Robinhood plans to launch the RLUSD application, and Ripple will expand the distribution scope.
The proposed integration of Robinhood means that the distribution of stablecoins from Ripple is expected to expand further beyond institutional trading venues.
Robinhood indicates that the number of customers who received capital injections in August was 28.6 million, but this figure does not represent how many of these customers will be eligible to hold or trade RLUSD.
According to Ripple, since its launch in December 2024, the market value of RLUSD has exceeded $2.4 billion, and the broader stablecoin market has now surpassed $300 billion in size.
This protocol is built upon the broader blockchain strategy of Robinhood, which includes support for tokenized assets and financial applications such as Robinhood Chain.

In addition, Ripple has recently reached a cooperation with DriveWealth to explore a capital injection scheme driven by RLUSD for the infrastructure network of a brokerage firm that serves over 100 partners.
Neither of these two measures can guarantee a considerable volume of stablecoin transactions, but they both expand the scope of infrastructure through which RLUSD may reach financial institutions.
Ripple Treasury and Bitstamp financing constitute a broader cooperation
The agreement between Robinhood and Ripple also extends to the internal financial operations of that brokerage firm.
Robinhood plans to integrate with Ripple Treasury for cash position management, liquidity management, payments, forecasting, risk management, and transactions between corporate entities.
This move follows the 7-day, 24-hour fund management expansion of Ripple. This expansion has equipped the company's financial team with additional capabilities in managing digital assets.
In terms of institutional trading, Ripple Prime has provided services for Bitstamp, by, and Robinhood through lending and guaranteed financing of approximately 20 types of digital assets.
Ripple Prime Customers can also conduct spot trading through Bitstamp, and it is planned to support perpetual futures trading later this year.
Robinhood also intends to use RLUSD for institutional settlements on XRP Ledger, which may further extend the use cases of stablecoins beyond exchange trading.
Neither party has disclosed the launch date of the settlement service, the expected trading volume, or the financial terms of the agreement.
What does the cooperation between Robinhood and XRP mean?
This statement strengthens the institutional finance strategy of Ripple, but it does not indicate that Robinhood will purchase a large quantity of XRP.
RLUSD is an independent stablecoin backed by the US dollar, while XRP is the native cryptocurrency of XRP Ledger, used for paying transaction fees and as account reserves.
Ripple A recently approved national trust bank has added another layer of regulatory component to its stablecoin infrastructure.
At the same time, this collaboration is also one of a series of announcements surrounding the release of Swell in 2026. In these announcements, traditional financial institutions are exploring blockchain settlement and custody.
This expansion also occurred during a year when XRP faced difficulties. Despite Ripple continuing to advance institutional cooperation, XRP still declined.
