MetaOptics Approves Share Repurchase Authorization to Enhance Capital Management Flexibility and Advance Commercial Delivery and Next-Generation Metal Lens Milestones
Singapore, October 28th / PRNewswire / -- MetaOptics Ltd ( Catalist : 9MT) (hereinafter referred to as “MetaOptics” or “the Company”), together with its subsidiaries, is known as the “Group”). The Company announced today that at the special general meeting of shareholders held on October 28, 2026, shareholders provided strong support for matters including the adoption of a share repurchase authorization.
This share repurchase authorization enables the board of directors to purchase or acquire company shares more flexibly when it deems appropriate and in the best interests of the company and its shareholders. The board believes that this authorization is an important tool for capital management, which can provide the company with additional flexibility to:
- Enhance shareholder value over time;
- Optimize the company's capital structure;
- Improve return on equity and other key financial indicators where appropriate; as well as
- Seize the opportunity to repurchase company shares when market conditions are favorable.
As the group continues to make progress in business execution and technological development, the timing for adopting this authorization is also quite appropriate:
(1) The group will still fulfill its existing Direct Laser Writer (“DLW”) platform purchase orders as planned, with deliveries expected to be completed by the end of 2026, which is anticipated to have a positive impact on revenue for the fiscal year ending December 31, 2026;
(2) Commercial cooperation continues to advance, and the group has received an order from a major American wafer factory customer for the design/evaluation of co-packaged optical (“CPO”) modules that utilize their metal lens solutions and technology. This order is expected to support ULED and laser-based configurations, further expanding the group's product capabilities in next-generation optical interconnect applications; as well as
(3) The group has also successfully completed the design and manufacturing process verification for 12-megapixel color imaging titanium dioxide (“TiO2”) metal lenses. Currently, the group’s 12-inch wafer production and manufacturing are in progress, with plans to begin testing the world’s first 12-megapixel color imaging TiO2 metal lenses in January 2027.
MetaOptics Executive Chairman Thng Chong Kim stated: "We are encouraged by the progress the company has made in commercialization, technology development, and in engaging with institutional investors, including signing non-disclosure agreements with American clients, completing purchase orders, securing new design/evaluation orders, and making breakthroughs in high-resolution metal lens imaging. These achievements further strengthen our confidence in the long-term potential of MetaOptics and its ability to create sustainable value for shareholders. We will also continue to maintain sufficient capital to execute our growth plans and strategies."
The share repurchase authorization does not require the company to repurchase any shares. Any future repurchases will only be carried out after considering market conditions, the company's financial situation, working capital needs, growth plans, and other relevant factors.
