Philadelphia, November 3, 2026 / PRNewswire / -- Sports Market Technology Platform Sporttrade announced today that the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) of the United States has officially approved the company to register as a Designated Contract Market (DCM) and a Derivatives Clearing Organization.
Unlike many recent registrations, Sporttrade serves as the qualification for DCM and DCO, enabling them to support intermediary services conducted through futures brokers (FCM), as well as direct participants on their exchanges, introducing brokers (IB), and independent software providers (ISV). It can also provide clearing services for other DCM through its DCO.
Under the supervision of CFTC, Sporttrade aims to provide a better market structure, narrower bid-ask spreads, and real-time execution in sports event contracts, with a focus on improving the execution quality for brokers and their clients. In preparation for launch, Sporttrade is actively engaging brokers with national distribution capabilities, such as Fliff; before obtaining regulatory approval, these brokers will route client orders to this exchange.
As CFTC-regulated DCM and DCO, Sporttrade is designed from the ground up to support intermediaries, professional traders, and market makers in providing order flows. By introducing the technology and market structure of traditional financial exchanges into the sports market, Sporttrade provides a scalable and reliable execution environment for its partners and participants.
Sporttrade CEO Alexander Kane stated: "Obtaining our DCM and DCO registrations from CFTC is a truly momentous occasion for the company. Our initial intention in establishing Sporttrade was to bring the sports market the same high-performance infrastructure, tight pricing, and regulatory integrity as traditional financial markets. By operating both an exchange and a clearinghouse simultaneously, we are providing brokerage partners with superior market quality, as well as the liquidity, transparency, and services that professional traders require. In addition to our exchange business, we are also pleased to have begun clearing discussions with several exchanges that have regarded Sporttrade as a market leader in exchange and clearing technology over the past five years."
Sporttrade Key Points of Exchanges and Clearing Infrastructure:
- Broker-first market architecture:Designed specifically to provide smooth support for traffic providers, it is equipped with dedicated institutional support, specialized order entry systems, market data, drop copy ports, and robust backend tools.
- Direct liquidation capability:As registered DCO and Sporttrade, they can directly clear and settle transactions for self-clearing members and intermediary institutions. At the same time, under the premise of maintaining sufficient collateral, a more efficient withholding method is adopted for member balances.
- Better execution quality:Leveraging its proprietary market structure, Sporttrade is poised to reduce brokerage costs by narrowing the price spreads of products required by broker clients.
Sporttrade's DCM plans to launch its exchange and clearing capabilities in phases, initially targeting certain order flow and liquidity providers.
Sporttrade is still working on expanding its pipeline of partnerships with more brokers and institutions in order to rapidly increase its market presence in the coming months.
