In addition to the consolidated financial statements prepared in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles in the United States (“GAAP”), the company also provides certain non-GAAP financial information to offer investors deeper insights, enhance transparency, and provide a more comprehensive understanding of the information used by management in financial and operational decisions. A reconciliation table between the non-GAAP indicators and the most directly comparable GAAP indicators is included in the accompanying financial statements. The financial indicators mentioned in this press release that are not GAAP include adjusted operating revenue, adjusted operating margin, and adjusted earnings per share. These indicators exclude items that management believes do not reflect the ongoing operational performance of AMETEK, such as after-tax amortization of intangible assets related to mergers and acquisitions, and one-time costs associated with mergers and acquisitions (including transaction-related costs, purchase accounting adjustments, and integration-related costs).

The company believes that these indicators provide useful information to investors by reflecting other aspects of the operations of AMETEK. After being adjusted to comparable GAAP indicators, they help investors better understand the company's long-term profit trends and facilitate the comparison of the company's profitability with previous and subsequent periods as well as with its peers.
