On Tuesday, the Nasdaq Composite Index rose by 0.4%, as investors repurchased tech stocks ahead of the U.S. midterms. The Nasdaq 100 Index gained 0.5%, but it was still within a correction range, more than 10% below its recent highs.
The S&P 500 index rose slightly by 0.1%, while the Dow Jones Industrial Average fell by 188 points, or 0.4%. The reason for this decline was that Apple's stock price dropped by 3% after the company provided weak profit margin forecasts, and iPad sales fell short of expectations.
Chip manufacturers led the rebound. Micron Technology rose 4%, while NVIDIA, AMD, Broadcom, and Intel all increased by about 3%.
Affected by market expectations of potential progress in negotiations between the United States and Iran, oil prices have fallen. Brent crude oil has dropped by 1%, approaching $103 per barrel, while US crude oil has fallen below $95 per barrel.
Predictions from the market show that the Democratic Party has a roughly 75% chance of winning the Senate. If the Democrats sweep the midterms, artificial intelligence stocks could come under pressure on Wednesday; if the Republicans manage to maintain their advantage, the market might see an upward trend.
