NVIDIA's market value evaporated by nearly $450 billion on Thursday. Jim Cramer, a well-known American financial broadcaster ( Jim Cramer ), suggested that this favorite in the field of artificial intelligence should repurchase its own shares.
Cramer posted on the X platform that when a company's stock becomes the most cost-effective asset in the market, the company should repurchase its own shares.
He added, "NVIDIA can choose to buy back shares and continue to increase its investment, or they can let the stock price continue to fall."
The company's current stock price has fallen by about 25% from its historical high of $243.37 on October 6, with a market value evaporating by $1.39 trillion, of which the market value shrank by $446.94 billion on Thursday alone.
Concerns about restrictions on data center construction have intensified the selling sentiment. Data from Citibank Research ( Citi Research ) show that as of October, there have been over 500 bans and suspensions of data center approvals across the United States, while by mid-2025, such measures are expected to be nearly non-existent.
In Texas, Democrat Gina Inohosa ( Gina Hinojosa ) promised during her campaign to suspend the approval of all data centers until legislators passed relevant protective measures; in the end, she defeated the incumbent governor, Greg Abbott.
U.S. independent senator Bernie Sanders once again called for a nationwide moratorium after the midterms, while Representative Yassmin Ansari (a Democrat from Arizona) urged Democrats to push for a ban on artificial superintelligence.
NVIDIA's stock price tumbled 9.26% on Thursday, closing at $181.60. So far this year, the stock has fallen by 2.40%, and over the past year, it has declined by 6.75%.
