A third-party institution, TickerTrends, estimates that OpenAI's monthly recurring revenue at the end of July was approximately $3.55 billion, which is about $800 million higher than at the end of May. Its annual recurring revenue ($BJWKEEP_00011__) rose from $33 billion at the end of May to $42.6 billion on July 29. OpenAI, the company's Chairman, Bret Taylor, admitted that the company lagged behind Anthropic in the AI programming market at the beginning of the year, and some Claude Code heavy users have begun to look for alternatives such as Codex due to high fees.
