2026-09-17 09:39:18
According to CoinMeta, Cosmos Ventures was announced on September 17th, with plans to invest $77.6 million to support "philosopher entrepreneurs" dedicated to creating new types of institutions for the AI era. Founders Brendan McCord and Matt Mandel stated that the fund has already invested in AIUC, Prime Intellect, Workshop Labs (which has been acquired by Thinking Machines), and an undisclosed education company. LP includes Reid Hoffman, Joe Liemandt, among others. Cosmos Ventures believes that AI is breaking the traditional assumption of "intelligence being bound to humans," and existing systems such as schools, media, and insurance may face the need for redesign. The organization emphasizes that entrepreneurs need to consider questions like "what kind of society do we wish to build" and "which decisions should be made by AI and which must be in human hands," which can be summarized as "the condere aude," or in other words, "the courage to innovate."
