ING Bank: No signs that India's outsourcing industry is being replaced by AI

According to CoinMeta, Rabobank stated that as India moves towards areas of service that are more difficult to automate, there are hardly any signs that the country's outsourcing industry is being replaced by artificial intelligence. Economist Deepali Bhargava writes that the proportion of software services exports in GDP has risen from 3.3% before the pandemic to about 5.2%. During the same period, business services, including finance, accounting, engineering, research, and analysis, more than doubled their share to 3.3%. This performance challenges concerns that generative artificial intelligence could automate traditional outsourcing jobs, thereby weakening one of India's most important industries. Data from Rabobank indicates that India accounts for more than half of the global outsourcing industry, earning approximately $205 billion annually from software service exports, which support about 5.8 million workers. The combined exports of software and business services account for about 8.5% of GDP, making them an important source of foreign exchange.
