GPT-6 Astra Deciphering German Enigma Ciphers
2026-09-18 11:34:37
According to CoinMeta, GPT-6 and Astra successfully cracked a German Enigma message from 1941 within 10 hours. This ciphertext was deciphered by a product developer from Bloomberg, Carter Leffen, using GPT-6 and Astra. The ciphertext consisted of only 82 letters and had previously been listed on the cryptography history website Cryptocellar as unsolved. By analyzing another deciphered telegram from the same day, they noticed that the place name “rosenow” appeared twice, leading them to guess that this word was also hidden in the target ciphertext. The final decrypted message read: “Please inform me of the marching route. I am at rosenow. Please reply immediately via radio.”
