Netherlands International: German state elections are not expected to substantially impact the euro trend
2026-09-21 15:41:41
According to CoinMeta, Francesco Pesole, an analyst at ING Group, stated in a report that the losses suffered by Germany's ruling Christian Democratic Union (CDU) in state elections should have a limited impact on the euro. He pointed out that the election results mainly reflect local political dynamics rather than a judgment on Chancellor Merkel's reforms. However, as the CDU's support rate declines and the political landscape becomes increasingly fragmented, advancing the reform agenda may become more challenging. These developments cast a shadow over the euro's prospects, but they are not sufficient to replace interest rate differentials and oil as its main driving factors.
