ECB and EU banks seek to modify stablecoin liquidity rules
2026-09-22 19:31:06
According to CoinMeta, the European Central Bank (ECB) and the European Central Bank (ECB) wish to replace the deposit requirements for stablecoins with liquidity thresholds, warning that sudden withdrawals could put pressure on banks. The ECB and the European Central Bank believe that large-scale stablecoin deposits may pose liquidity risks to banks, therefore proposing to abolish the requirement that at least 30% of reserves or 60% of significant stablecoins must be held as bank deposits. This proposal was made in response to the European Commission's review of market crypto asset regulation (MiFIR).
