Chainlink: Banks can connect to the SWIFT blockchain ledger through a new framework
2026-09-29 11:42:55
According to CoinMeta, Chainlink has announced the launch of a new connectivity framework that allows financial institutions to access the blockchain ledger of SWIFT while maintaining control over the transaction signature keys. This framework enables banks to connect their existing systems to the SWIFT ledger, with the Chainlink operating environment ( CRE ) responsible for coordinating the workflow between institutional systems and the shared ledger. Financial institutions retain the keys used to authorize transactions, while CRE coordinates the workflow required for reading and writing to the SWIFT ledger. Chainlink states that this structure allows institutions to adopt tokenized payment services while retaining their existing approval procedures and security controls.
