An independent security audit of the element v23.3.4 has been initiated, and coordination is underway to update the authorization keys during the extraction process. In the ecosystem update on September 28th, it was stated that an external security audit has been commenced as part of the security restoration peg efforts. The Liquid Network update indicates that the existing peg authorization keys are being replaced to ensure that all Bitcoin receiving keys related to peg are securely stored in cold wallets. Although Liquid did not provide a specific date for the recovery extraction, it was mentioned that the audit and key changes are among the steps in the process to securely restore peg.
