According to CoinMeta, International Energy Agency (IEA) Director-General Fatih Birol stated on Tuesday that the agency's member countries might discuss whether to release more strategic oil reserves into the market in the future. He told reporters ahead of the EU Energy Ministers' meeting in Dublin, "We are closely monitoring the market, especially the refined products market and diesel, among others. If necessary, we will of course discuss taking necessary measures with the governments of the member countries." Birol refused to comment on the proposal put forward by French President Emmanuel Macron and others to lower oil prices by releasing more strategic reserves.
