Aztec Labs Re-launches Private Wallet zk.money, Plans to Integrate with DEFI Protocol

According to CoinMeta, Aztec Labs has re-launched its privacy wallet zk.money after a three-year hiatus. The new version operates on the privacy-oriented Ethereum Layer 2 Aztec Network framework and adopts a self-hosted model, which means that user balances, payment amounts, and transaction counterparty information are not disclosed on a public ledger. Users can register names such as bob.zk.money ENS and conduct payments through links; they can also transfer funds directly from exchanges based on Ethereum to these names. Aztec plans to integrate with the Ethereum DEFI protocol in the fourth quarter and launch a mobile app. The original version of zk.money was launched in 2021 and was shut down in 2023 due to difficulties in scaling its underlying architecture. During that time, it covered over 75,000 unique wallets and processed more than 100 million dollars in transactions. Aztec stated that the new wallet is a non-hosted product, and the company cannot access, transfer, or freeze users' funds. The two older versions of Aztec that were attacked in June this year have no relation to the current Aztec Network or the new version zk.money.
