Energy CEO: The main obstacle preventing Americans from benefiting from low prices
2026-09-30 01:57:53
According to CoinMeta, Toby Z. Rice, the CEO of energy company EQT, stated in an interview with Fox Business that despite the United States having abundant natural gas resources, the lack of infrastructure prevents many households from enjoying lower prices for the commodity. He pointed out that there is a gap between the prices in natural gas-producing areas and the prices faced by consumers in regions with limited pipeline capacity. Rice expects that EQT will sell natural gas from the Appalachians at near $4 per gallon during winter, while prices in New England could approach $20 per gallon in January. He emphasized the need to accelerate infrastructure construction in order to deliver energy supplies to consumers and called for licensing reforms to speed up this process. In addition, Rice mentioned that the growing demand for artificial intelligence is also a factor contributing to the increase in energy demand.
