Aztec Restarting zk.money to Enhance Ethereum's Privacy Features
2026-09-30 05:48:08
According to CoinMeta, Aztec Labs has announced the restart of zk.money, a privacy-oriented self-hosted Ethereum wallet that allows users to send and receive stablecoins without disclosing their balance, amounts, or recipient information. Users can apply for labels, such as bob.zk.money, which can be resolved to their deposit addresses through Ethereum Name Service (ENS). The CEO of Aztec Labs, Joe Andrews, stated, “On-chain transactions should not imply the disclosure of financial history.” This wallet operates on the Aztec network, and its privacy features generate zero-knowledge proofs on the user’s device. Although zk.money provides private payments, Ethereum deposits are still public; users can send USDC, USDT, or DAI from exchanges or other Ethereum wallets. The limit for each transaction is $2,500, and all users share a daily deposit cap of $50,000. The original zk.money was launched in 2021 and attracted over 75,000 wallets and a transaction volume of $100 million.
