According to CoinMeta, Dan Jørgensen, the EU's energy commissioner, stated at the EU Energy Ministers' Meeting held in Dublin, the capital of Ireland, that since the outbreak of hostilities in Iran at the end of February, the EU has spent an additional 100 billion euros on importing the same amount of fossil fuels. Jørgensen pointed out that despite paying an extra 100 billion euros for energy, "not a single bit more natural gas or oil has been obtained." He called on Europe to accelerate the electrification process and reduce its dependence on imported fossil fuels, replacing them with domestic green energy.
