HSBC Launches Stablecoin HSBC RedCoin, Focusing on P2P Transfers and Merchant Payments

According to CoinMeta, HSBC announced that it will launch its stablecoin HSBC RedCoin in Hong Kong, planning to adopt a phased approach. In the initial stage, the focus will be on person-to-person (P2P) transfers and person-to-business (P2B) payments, before expanding to enterprise and institutional-level applications. At the same time, HSBC conducted a survey among over 1,000 Hong Kong customers, which revealed that 74% of respondents could identify at least one use case for stablecoins. Among these, digital asset trading and tokenized investments accounted for 57%, P2P transfers accounted for 53%, and cross-border remittances and business payments each accounted for 52%.
