Swedish Central Bank's "wait-and-see period" is coming to an end, with interest rate hikes possibly resuming as early as November

According to CoinMeta, meeting minutes released by the Swedish Central Bank on Wednesday show that if economic growth and inflation remain on their current trajectories, the bank expects to begin tightening its policies later this year. Previously, the bank had maintained its policy rate at 1.75% unchanged. Riksbank Governor Stefan Ingves stated, "Based on current assessments, I think it would be reasonable to raise rates as early as November." After keeping the policy rate unchanged since September 2025, the Swedish Central Bank's wait-and-see strategy is coming to an end. With the weak Swedish krona increasing inflationary pressures and markets expecting the European Central Bank to raise rates again this year, it is almost certain that the Swedish Central Bank will tighten its policies in the coming months. However, some analysts believe that the Swedish Central Bank may wait until December before taking action.
