According to CoinMeta, the crypto industry spent 8 million dollars on lobbying for the Clarity legislation in the first half of 2026, despite failing to reach an agreement. The industry is known for its substantial spending on elections and sought to convert nearly 8 million dollars into political outcomes through direct lobbying, with the aim of advancing regulatory bills for the U.S. digital asset market. According to an analysis by CoinDesk of disclosures by federal lobbyists, the industry's lobbying expenses exceeded 13 million dollars over a six-month period, with most of it related to congressional legislation on market structure. Although the lobbying efforts were not successful, the industry's efforts in pushing for the Clarity legislation have laid the groundwork for future regulatory actions.
