Gates pointed out that taxing robots will ensure citizens' monetary safety nets and government tax revenues. He also mentioned that although physical robots are lagging behind artificial intelligence systems in development, people underestimate the speed at which humanoid robots will catch up. Gates is not the only one who believes that the prosperity of artificial intelligence requires new tax policies; Anthropic CEO Dalio Amodei has also called for stronger tax policies targeting artificial intelligence companies to distribute the benefits of technology more broadly.
