According to CoinMeta, as reported by DeItaone, the U.S. 10-year Treasury bond experienced its worst performance since 1994 in the third quarter of 2026, with the yield ending at 5.29%, an increase of 87 basis points, marking the largest quarterly gain in over thirty years. This change was mainly driven by real yields approaching 3%, which led to a dramatic re-pricing of market expectations for the Federal Reserve. Long-term bonds were hit hard, with TLT ETF falling by 10% in the third quarter and closing at a record low.
