Analyst: Binance Alleged to Be Operating in Europe by Taking Advantage of Legal Loopholes

According to CoinMeta, EU regulators have once again raised doubts about Binance, suspecting that the exchange is taking advantage of legal loopholes to continue serving European users. A spokesperson for Binance stated that the exchange is actively seeking MICA authorization and complies with the applicable regulatory requirements of its operating region. Binance is currently facing scrutiny from EU regulators for using a "reverse recruitment" exemption from MICA to continue serving certain European customers. Since June, Binance has encountered its second setback in Europe; on June 24, its application for a Greek license was withdrawn, with European Central Bank President Lagarde having pushed for Greece to reject the application. On September 30, the European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA) called on the European Commission to strengthen regulatory powers over unlicensed non-EU companies. To date, no regulatory body has made a decision regarding Binance.
