According to CoinMeta, AMD announced on September 28, 2026, that it would acquire World Labs for $8.2 billion. This transaction is a all-stock deal and represents the second-largest acquisition in the company's history, only surpassed by the acquisition of Xilinx in 2022. World Labs was founded in 2024 and focuses on developing spatial intelligence, providing AI models for generating and reasoning in three-dimensional environments. The company's products include a 3D environment creation tool Marble for robot training, an automatic regression diffusion transformer Atlas, and a streaming media 3D Gaussian renderer Spark 2.0. This acquisition will enable World Labs to directly compete with NVIDIA in the field of AI hardware, and Instinct MI400 series from World Labs will become the default foundation for physical AI workloads.
