US Congressional Research Service: Clear legislation will allow 11 types of crypto activities
2026-10-02 02:47:36
According to CoinMeta, the Congressional Research Service of the United States released an analysis stating that a clear bill reported by the Senate would allow U.S. banks and credit cooperatives to engage in 11 types of crypto activities, including the underwriting and trading of digital assets. The passage of this bill would eliminate the distinction between these activities among banking organizations and credit cooperatives, allowing for a broader range of crypto-related services to be conducted. Senator Cynthia Lummis stated that the bill would permit U.S. banks to directly purchase and hold Bitcoin, which could lead to a “significant” increase in prices. Although the bill was not passed on September 15th, discussions regarding it continue.
