CoinMeta Data: Bitmart Announces Its First Concrete Plan Aimed at Compensating Over 12 Million Users Who Were Unable to Access Their Accounts Due to a 2021 Hacker Attack. The exchange estimates the cost of the hacker attack in December 2021 at $319.5 million and has requested court approval for any compensation to be accepted by users. According to the proposal, users' account balances will be frozen to a certain amount in US dollars, referred to as the “dollarized account balance,” which is based on the average trading price of the user's tokens over a specific period. Users have three compensation options: to receive a proportional distribution of Bitmart's liquid assets, to accept “compensation tokens” related to the hacker attack, or to choose “continuing tokens,” which will be traded on a decentralized exchange and gain value from investments in Bitmart.
