According to CoinMeta, as reported by Decrypt, Reddit announced that it will discontinue the RSS feature on November 13th and will shut down public access to API in March 2027 in order to combat automated crawling and abuse. Reddit stated that this move is aimed at modernizing infrastructure, improving management tools, and reducing malicious activities. The new public API request will end on October 31st; unregistered applications and users will lose access on January 12, 2027, and all remaining users will have their access severed in March. Reddit hopes that developers will rebuild on their new platform Devvit and offers a $1 million application migration program.
