According to CoinMeta, the NEAR protocol suspended trading due to a $3.8 million NEAR Intents hacker attack, causing the price to fall by about 8% on October 1st to $4.91. This incident forced the suspension of cross-chain trading services, and engineers are currently investigating the vulnerability. NEAR Intents attributed the loss to an integration error and stated that they have fixed the contractual defect and will compensate affected users in full. The hacker attack interrupted the strong rebound of NEAR towards $5.50 in September. The team expects that the core trading services for NEAR Intents and NEAR protocols will be restored within about 1 hour, but access services for 11 networks are expected to be suspended for another approximately 12 hours. Blockchain investigator ZachXBT indicated that the abnormal withdrawals came from BNB ChainHot wallets connected to the protocol, and the stolen assets reached KuCoin before being bridged to Bitcoin. The team pledged to track the funds and release a detailed incident report.
