Robinhood provides trading accounts and credit cards for AI agents, increasing the liability gap
2026-10-02 09:43:37
According to CoinMeta, on September 29, 2026, at the Hood summit, Robinhood launched AI proxy trading accounts and credit cards, marking a shift in responsibility from automatic payments to the core of the stock and crypto markets. Since their launch in May 2026, over 150,000 customers have opened these accounts, with interactions between proxies and Robinhood tools approaching 30 million times per day. The platform's terms clearly state that users are responsible for all risks associated with transactions executed by AI proxies and the use of their data. Robinhood Labs LLC, as a technology company and not a broker or investment advisor, provides its brokerage services through Robinhood Financial LLC. Regulatory authorities are currently working to address this gap in responsibility, and the FINRA 2026 annual regulatory report mentioned AI proxies for the first time, identifying risks such as a lack of human verification and insufficient auditing capabilities.
