CoinMeta data: A semi-annual survey released on October 1st by South Korea's financial intelligence unit ( KOFIU ) and the Financial Services Supervision Agency shows that the Korean cryptocurrency market is gradually aging, becoming quieter, and shrinking. Users over the age of 40 have become the largest age group, with the average daily trading volume dropping by 44%. In the first half of 2026, the value of cryptocurrency assets on domestic exchanges decreased by one-third. The survey covered 26 registered virtual asset service providers. The total market capitalization fell by 33%, to 58.9 trillion Korean won, a decrease of 28.3 trillion Korean won compared to the second half of 2025. The average daily trading volume dropped to 3.1 trillion Korean won, and the amount of Korean won deposits held in exchanges decreased by 35%. At the same time, KOFIU warns that among 234 tokens traded only on one exchange, 93 have a market value of 100 million Korean won or less, posing liquidity risks and extreme price fluctuations.
