CoinMeta data: A survey by Capgemini indicates that with the proliferation of stablecoins and tokenized deposits, banks may face payment revenue losses of up to $230 billion. The Capgemini “2027 Global Payments Report” predicts that by 2030, these tools will account for about 4% of global payments. The survey also points out that approximately $4 trillion in funds are trapped in accounts used for cross-border settlements. Nearly 60% of large enterprises stated that they would opt for non-bank stablecoin services if banks fall behind. Although 71% of enterprises prefer banks for tokenized payments when cost and quality are equal, only 21% of banks are actively expanding these services. Tokenized deposits are considered a top priority for banks in the near term, as they can remain on the balance sheet and comply with existing regulations. Capgemini, the head of global payment services at Jeroen H, stated: “Faced with a risk of $230 billion, banks must decide what role to play in this emerging ecosystem.”
