According to CoinMeta, on October 2, the Japanese government announced a new round of sanctions against Russia, adding 33 entities including the Russian cryptocurrency exchange garantex and 9 individuals to the list of those subject to asset freezes and other sanctions, and imposing restrictions on payments to and capital transactions with these entities. At the same time, Japan also imposed restrictions on services and financing for 35 ships in Russia's "shadow fleet." garantex had previously been subject to sanctions by the United States, the European Union, and other countries for allegedly assisting Russian entities in circumventing financial sanctions.
