According to CoinMeta, IETF released a draft for proxy identity on April 3, 2026, even though the market had already introduced related solutions beforehand. The draft proposed extensions to the OAuth 2.0 first-party application (FIPA) specifications, aiming to make proxy authorization challenges machine-readable. The draft introduced an “elicitations” array that provides a standardized metadata format for authentication challenges. Although a working group for IETF has not yet been established, the market is rapidly advancing related functionalities. The Okta XAA protocol has been collaborated on with over 25 partners and is expected to be fully available in the fiscal year 2027. According to research by Okta, 88% of organizations have reported confirming or suspecting AI proxy security incidents.
