Hoskinsen warns: The European digital euro may face consumption limits
2026-10-05 21:46:42
According to CoinMeta, Charles Hoskinson, the founder of Cardano, stated at a United Nations meeting that he distrusts the European Union's introduction of the digital euro, predicting that this will lead to "discrimination in assets and transactions." He pointed out that although the EU draft has excluded programmable consumption rules, the text is still under negotiation, and Hoskinson believes that only binding laws can alleviate his concerns. He mentioned that digital currencies could become a form of "financial panopticon" and warned that consumers might be unable to use the funds in their accounts due to purchase limits. Hoskinson also proposed his own privacy network as an alternative solution.
