The United States CFTC and SEC jointly propose for encrypted asset regulation

According to CoinMeta, the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) of the United States proposed a series of rules on Monday to establish a regulatory framework for cryptocurrencies in the U.S., aiming to fill the regulatory gaps left by Congress's failure to pass a crypto bill. The CFTC is pursuing two regulatory approaches, one for transactions and another for companies that provide platforms for these activities. The new rules will create a new category of platforms called "Cryptocurrency Markets," and crypto activities involving leverage, margin, or financing will fall under the jurisdiction of the CFTC's regulations. CFTC Chair Gary Gensler stated that these rules will provide a unified national regulatory approach for cryptocurrency exchanges. Nevertheless, the CFTC still lacks regulatory authority over the spot market, which means that directly traded cryptocurrencies are not within its regulatory scope.
