Ray Dalio: The United States may face a debt crisis within three years
2026-10-06 18:44:24
According to CoinMeta, Ray Dalio warns that the United States may face a severe debt crisis within three years unless the fiscal deficit significantly decreases. The current federal debt of the United States has exceeded $40 trillion, and long-term borrowing costs have risen to their highest levels in decades. Dalio pointed out that the increasing cost of debt service is gradually eroding government spending, forcing the Treasury Department to sell more and more debt. He stated that if the deficit is not reduced to around 3%, the risk faced by the United States would be akin to an economic "heart attack." The Congressional Budget Office predicts that the federal deficit for fiscal year 2026 will reach $1.9 trillion, accounting for about 5.8% of GDP. Dalio believes that reducing the deficit requires a combination of spending control, increasing revenue, and lowering interest costs, rather than relying solely on monetary policy.
