According to CoinMeta, AMD is planning to invest tens of billions of dollars in Asia to address the threat posed by the shortage of AI chips to HBM4. Lisa Su, the CEO of AMD, stated that the company is working with partners such as Samsung, SK SK Hynix, and TSMC to plan supply three to five years in advance, and is encouraging memory manufacturers to expand production capacity as soon as possible. She pointed out at a conference in South Korea that Samsung Electronics and SK SK Hynix are key suppliers, describing the current memory situation as "very tight." This investment builds upon the over $10 billion in investments in Taiwan that AMD promised earlier this year, and is expected to significantly increase the supply of AI chips by 2027. AMD's next-generation Instinct MI455X accelerators and Helios Rack-Scale systems rely on HBM4, which is a new generation of high-bandwidth memory designed to provide large amounts of data for AI processors.
