2026-10-08 10:22:38
According to CoinMeta, the UK Treasury announced the appointment of Barclays, HSBC, Lloyds, Morgan Stanley, NatWest, and RBC Capital Markets as the joint lead underwriters for the first digital sovereign government bond, Digit. They will be responsible for underwriting, investor communication, and issuance distribution. The pilot is expected to take place in the first quarter of 2027. Digit is a short-term UK government bond that will become the first digital asset to list on the main board of the London Stock Exchange. It will be directly issued on the HSBC Orion DLT platform and settled on-chain within the UK's Digital Securities Sandbox system, independent of the existing government debt management programs.
