U.S. Senator investigates payment relationship between Tether and former White House consulting firm

According to CoinMeta, U.S. Senator Richard Blumenthal is investigating the payment arrangements between a company jointly owned by Tether and former White House crypto advisor Bo Haynes (Bo Hines). Blumenthal has requested that Paul Aldorino (Paolo Ardoino), the CEO of Tether, provide transaction records with Haynes and his consulting firm NXUM by November 3rd. The investigation reveals that NXUM received $6.3 million in income from a transaction concluded with Tether in May 2025. Tether pays $415,000 per month to a marketing company, which then transfers most of the initial payments to a wallet used by NXUM. Blumenthal stated that this payment structure indicates that Tether may have been aware of the illegality and impropriety of making payments to serving officials.
